What it's like
A shark-netted area of calm Botany Bay water off the beach at Kyeemagh, near the mouth of the Cooks River. The baths are very tidal: at high tide the water is deep enough to swim soon after you wade in; at low tide you have to walk a long way out before it gets deep. The suburb's name is said to come from an Aboriginal word meaning beautiful dawn.
When to go
Go around high tide on a calm day. Avoid swimming for a few days after heavy rain.
Getting there and facilities
The baths are at the north end of Lady Robinsons Beach, Kyeemagh. Toilets and showers are in the building above the baths.
Good to know
There are no lifeguards. Monterey, Ramsgate and Sandringham baths are further south along the same shore.
