What it's like

The baths are a netted tidal enclosure at the head of Gymea Bay, in a bushy, sheltered setting. A severe storm damaged the structure, and council closed them to swimmers while keeping the area open for fishing.

When to go

Not until council confirms they have reopened. Lilli Pilli Baths and Gunnamatta Bay Baths are nearby alternatives.

Getting there and facilities

The baths are on Ellesmere Road, Gymea Bay, below Gymea Bay Reserve, which council is upgrading.

Good to know

Water quality at the baths has been rated very poor in recent State of the Beaches reports.
