What it's like
The pool is cut into the rock platform at the south end of the beach. The main pool has eight lanes over 50 m, and a shallower section suits young children. A gently sloping ramp with handrails on both sides leads into the water, so people using wheelchairs or with limited mobility can get in without climbing down a ladder.
It was officially opened in 1926, though people swam here before that. In 1937 it was deepened and widened into a full-size pool. Council has since restored it, adding the ramp and new stairs.
When to go
Early mornings are for laps; families arrive later. Council notes that its cleaning roster can change at short notice with unusual weather or pool conditions, so check before you go.
Getting there and facilities
The pool is at the southern end of Collaroy Beach. A newer council amenities block nearby has two fully accessible toilets. Buses run along Pittwater Road, and cafes are a short walk away.
Good to know
There are no lifeguards at the pool itself. The ramp makes entry easier, but the pool floor can be slippery.
